I’ve worked with a lot of advertising and marketing people. And when you ask what it is that they do, most will say they’re a problem solver. Clients come to them with a problem and they find a creative way to fix it. While I don’t disagree with them. I think they are short sighted. I’ve always answered the same question that I’m a problem solver and opportunity finder. Sometimes clients don’t know what they need. They know they have an issue and they need a solution. So any good customer service person would help them find a solution. But a great customer service person would not only find a solution, but also find a new opportunity. In a highly competitive economy, finding solutions to problems is key to a business’s survival; Finding opportunities is key to growth.
